The Beco Butterfly 2 is a soft structured carrier (ssc) that really grows with your baby! The Butterfly 2 allows you to do both front and back carries. You start your back carry by placing baby in the Butterfly 2 while on your front and then transferring baby and carrier to your back making the transition feel a little more secure for beginners. A feature that I love is that this carrier can be put on under your winter coat, then baby can be slipped into the front of the carrier and with a quick snap of the two safety buckles, you can pull your coat around you both - leaving room for baby to breathe of course. This makes for a quick transition from carseat to carrier and keeps mom and baby warm while still having the freedom to use your hands.
